GameGuard Issues Update [AVG Anti-Virus]

Date Dec 30, 2009 Views 15,918
UPDATE:

GameGuard has reported to us that currently the anti-virus software, AVG has been causing problems while playing. While they are looking into this matter, you can try disabling AVG while playing Shot Online or switching to another anti-virus program while GameGuard is looking for a solution.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
Shot-Online

Hello Shot-Online Community,

After checking many of the log files that people have been sending us via webmaster, it seems that there are some problems that stand out more than others.

Here are some simple steps to preventing issues with GameGuard:
1. Check the settings of your firewall -- there needs to be an exception for both GameGuard(nProtect) and Shot Online for both to update properly.
2. Check if there is any antvirus/antispyware protection that may be blocking GameGuard or Shot Online which will lead to problematic issues with the update process of both.
3. If steps one and two didn't solve the problem, we can suggest that you try temporarily turning off all firewalls and or antivirus programs temporarily to see if the clients will update correctly(afterwards you may re-enable them, but if you do not make 'exceptions' for shot online or gameguard you will have to do this for every update).
4. Please be sure to check that all of your drivers are up to date, and that you have the latest windows updates as well; and while either ShotOnline or GameGuard is updating, close all other programs as it is possible that background programs may be interfering with the update and cause connection issues.

We hope this solves at least some of the cases that we have seen thus far. We will continue to examine this issue and let you know whenever news comes to us.

Sincerely,
Shot-Online team
